About Recurring Yeast Infections

There are a lot of things that can be said about recurring yeast infections. And one thing that a lot of people want to know is what causes recurring yeast infections. The truth is that there can be a lot of causes of recurring yeast infections and one of them could be re-infection. Unlike some other forms of infections, yeast infection is not really handled by the body after first exposure. There are some infections where the body’s immune system mounts a strong immunity after its first experience or exposure to the infection. This is such that a recurrent exposure to the same infection will not bring the individual down like the first infection did.

This is however not really the case with yeast infection and that is why there are such things as recurring yeast infections. But what then exactly is yeast infection? Yeast infection is an illness that is often said to be commoner in females. But this may not be true. This is because the reason it is said to be commoner in females is not because it obviously afflicts them more but because their symptoms are more obvious than that of a guy suffering from yeast infection.

There are a lot of yeast organisms living in the human body (both males and females) as normal commensals. They are usually prevented from over spreading by the body’s normal flora (or bacteria that live naturally in the human body). When one is exposed to long term use of antibiotics or when one abuse antibiotic drugs, these bacteria would be destroyed and this will thus give room for yeast to grow to such a level as can cause infection.

The transmission of yeast infection is usually through sexual intercourse. This is one way by which one can have recurring yeast infections. This is because if you have been treated of yeast infection before it does not translate to being free from yeast infection forever. And so if you are exposed to yeast infection again you can come down with recurring yeast infections. So after a previous yeast infection, one should try to be more aware and act safer to prevent recurring yeast infections.

Recurring yeast infections can also occur as a result of not completing the treatment of the first yeast infection. Therefore, if treatment of the first yeast infection was not completed or not properly done, one can have recurring yeast infections.
